Six kinds of auto-glass work

We pass enquiries across Pretoria and Centurion to independent fitment businesses for the services below. Each page explains what the work involves, how to tell whether you need it, what a proper job looks like and what moves the quote. Where we have a local page for your suburb, it is linked under the service.

Not sure which you need? Describe the damage on the contact form and choose "Something else". We will work out what kind of fitter to pass it to.

Side window replacement

A broken door window cannot be repaired, only replaced. It also leaves glass inside the door that has to be cleared out properly.

Rear window replacement

Rear glass carries more than it seems: demister lines, sometimes the radio aerial, and on hatchbacks and SUVs a rear wiper. All of it has to work again after the new glass goes in.

Repair first, if it is safe

A chip that is small and away from the edges and the driver's view can often be filled with resin, which is quicker and cheaper than a new screen and keeps the factory seal. Once a chip has run into a long crack, or the damage is in front of the driver, the screen needs replacing. Our guide on stone chip repair or full replacement explains where the line usually falls.

By vehicle

Bakkies, SUVs, minibus taxis and trucks each bring their own glass questions. See windscreens by vehicle type.

What we do not do

We do not fit glass, calibrate cameras, set prices or warrant anyone's work. The fitment business quotes you directly and is responsible for the job. Read how Windscreen Pretoria works, and our guide to what a windscreen replacement costs depends on.

Broken glass? Tell us the vehicle and where it is

Send your suburb, the vehicle and what is damaged. We pass it to an independent fitment business that covers your area, and the fitter quotes you directly.
